A Note on Peer Support Services:

It is Not a Substitute for Licensed Clinical or Medical Services

This is Not a Substitute for
Licensed Clinical or Medical Services.

I am a Certified Peer Support Specialist, offering non-clinical peer support services based on shared experiences and mutual understanding. I am not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychiatrist, or medical professional. My services are not intended to replace therapy, medical treatment, medication management, or any care provided by licensed healthcare providers. If you require clinical or medical services, I encourage you to consult with a licensed professional or your healthcare team.

Difference Between Peer Support and Clinical Services:

Peer support focuses on creating a collaborative, empathetic environment where individuals can explore their personal goals, share experiences, and build resilience. It is rooted in lived experience and mutual respect rather than clinical diagnoses or treatment plans. Clinical services, provided by licensed professionals, involve diagnosing, treating, and managing mental health or medical conditions through evidence-based practices, including therapy and medication.

Legal and Liability Considerations:

As a non-clinical service provider, my role is limited to providing support through shared experiences and fostering empowerment. I do not offer medical advice, clinical diagnoses, or treatment. Engaging with me is entirely voluntary, and it is important for you to understand that decisions regarding your health and well-being remain your responsibility. In case of emergencies or urgent mental health needs, I advise you to contact a healthcare provider or emergency services immediately.

Privacy Statement:

Your privacy is important to me. While I am not bound by the same regulations as healthcare providers (e.g., HIPAA), I uphold a high standard of confidentiality in our interactions. Information shared with me will remain private unless disclosure is required by law, such as in cases of harm to yourself or others. I encourage open communication about any privacy concerns you may have.

Acknowledgment of Understanding:

By engaging with me, you acknowledge that you understand the scope and limitations of my peer support services. If you have questions or need clarification, please feel free to discuss them with me before proceeding.

Grievance Policy:

We are committed to providing ethical, professional, and high-quality peer support services. To ensure accountability and fairness, we have established a formal Grievance Policy. This policy allows clients to raise concerns about the services they receive in a safe, respectful, and confidential manner.

If you have a concern or grievance, we encourage you to utilize the grievance process, which ensures all submissions are reviewed by a neutral peer within the Peer Support system. This process promotes transparency and provides an opportunity for fair resolution.
